Martinez actively seeks to better
the industry that we serve. We sit on committees
and hold board positions in numerous associations in
order to have a voice at the state level. We are dedicated
to making sure that the way we do business is protected
from laws or regulations that would harm our industry.
The following are two of the latest examples of our involvement:
Cal/OSHA – The Dry cutting of
masonry and concrete material. Our vice president sat
on a committee to proactively develop a regulation that
gives trade contractors multiple options when dealing
with the cutting of masonry and concrete materials. Thus
saving sub contractors and builders the cost of added
measures that would significantly effect the cost of
production and would have extended timelines on the completion
of work.
Air Resources Board – off road diesel
equipment. We have been active in this measure, but unfortunately
the California Air Resources Board approved the new Off
Road Regulation. These new regulations would declare most
diesel-burning heavy equipment obsolete in California at
the end of a 13 year period. The regulation also includes
a 5 minute idling restriction that will take effect when
the regulation becomes effective sometime in 2008. We will
be sitting on committees that will be working on making
the implementation of this very tough, complex, and costly
regulation as user friendly as it can be.
